Photos: Meet Edna Awuor Who Wants High Court To Stop Kiptum’s Burial Because She Has His Baby
The High Court in Eldoret has rejected an application to halt the burial of World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum, despite claims from a 22-year-old woman named Edna Awour alleging that she shares a child with the athlete.
Justice Wananda dismissed the plea made by Edna Awuor, represented by her lawyer Joseph Oyaro, to stop the burial proceedings. Awuor asserted that she and Kiptum have a one-year-old and seven-month-old child, whose rights may be compromised if the burial proceeds as planned.
Edna Awuor, accompanied by the child, appeared in court seeking to halt the burial scheduled for the following day, citing exclusion from the funeral arrangements. She further requested DNA testing to confirm paternity.
However, Justice Wananda noted that the burial arrangements had been ongoing for some time, incurring significant expenses. Therefore, he deemed it unfair to halt the interment at this late stage.
