Suspected Thug Killed, Body Burnt By Irate Mob In Kapenguria.

A suspected thug who was already in police custody has been killed and his body burned after Irate mob stormed Makutano Police post in Kapenguria.

The middle aged man met his death when he was being transferred to Kapenguria Police Station.

Kapenguria OCPD Kipkoech Kirui has confirmed the incident noting that the mob overwhelmed them and a number of police officers have sustained injuries.

“The police tried to restrain but the public overpowered the police. In the process, officers sustained injuries as follows: Cpl Ali Mohammed suffered a brushed left wrist and also his mobile phone made Techno 19 valued at Sh24,000/- was snatched, PC Bare Aden lost one tooth and PC Juma Dalo was injured on the right rib area and both knees,” a police report of the incident indicates.

Kirui has urged the members of the public to avoid taking matters in their hands and instead give room for legal process.

“In case of any suspect just report to the police. Let’s cooperate because we are trying to end theft.” He added.

According to the residents, the man was a notorious criminal and had killed a student of Pser Secondary School few days ago.
