Man Selling Suitcases Multiplying Wealth Arrested For ‘Holy’ Theft.
Police in Nansana, Wakiso District have arrested a man for soliciting money from different people in false pretense.
Robert Njawala a resident in Nabweru North is currently behind bars and his victims are accusing him of taking their money and promising to expand their wealth by giving them suitcases which were later confirmed to harbor bags of sand and fake money notes.
He normally targeted ambitious women with money and one of the victims, Robinah Nmebwa, claims she has lost around three million shillings in the same con. Robert convinced her to take the money into his shrine to appease the gods of riches who would help her multiply it.
“When we got to his shrine, there was a lot of money in the corner and he said my money would spiritually connect with that one so I would have a lot of it. At home when I opened the suitcase he had given me, there was a lot of sand with fake dollar notes.” Robinah narrated.
The village chairman, Kabenge Joseph condemned the act and called out people who are always out looking for quick money without working for it.
“How do you believe someone who tells you that your money will be multiplied just like that without earning it? We will not accept our people to be cheated like that. That is wrong thinking.”
Another victim claims that he sold off his motor bike for a whooping sum of 2.7 million and gave it all to the con artist.
Robert Njawala is currently held in police custody as investigations are going on.
