Engin Firat Given Three Year Deal To Sharpen Harambee Stars
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has has offered Engin Firat a three year deal to Manage Kenya National Football team, Harambee Stars.
Firat is expected in the country early next month so as to constitute a team that will play three friendly matches in the next international window in March.
A top FKF official, who confirmed the Firat Contract, said having worked with the tactician before, they are convinced he has what it takes to take the team places.
“When Firat first came here last year, we had a long term plan with him on how to take the team to the next level. Unfortunately we could not achieve much due to the FIFA suspension. Now we are back and we have handed him a three year contract which he has accepted,” said our source.
FKF believes the Turkish Coach has what it takes to mould the team to the highest level internationally.
“Firat had been shortlisted for the Turkey national team job before we hired him. That shows his credibility and ability and we want to benefit from it,” he added.
The former Maldova national soccer Team, oversee Harambee Stars in two matches against Uganda and Rwanda before his short term contract expired.
Firat will have the responsibility of taking Harambee Stars to the next Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2026, the same year the World Cup will be held.
Harambee Stars are out of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after the country was suspended by FIFA last year over government interference.
