Arsenal fans arrested on Monday along Iganga Road by the police patrol, the Kira Police Spokesperson has said they didn’t know anything about their club.

The eight detainees including Felix Bagiire alias Shamlove a local radio entertainment show host were arrested on Monday in their car convoy, carrying a football trophy as they celebrate the win of Arsenal.

The tough game that saw Arsenal leaving Manchester United toothless, Arteta’s boys beat Ten Hag’s 3- 2 at Emirates.

On a police patrol along Iganga Road, the fans were arrested and taken to Jinja Police Station.

Kasule one of the detainees say, the police patrol vehicle stood in front their vehicle, and he was told to drive to Jinja Police Station because of celebrating Arsenal’s victory.

“We were arrested because we were celebrating our 3-2 victory over Manchester United” says Baker Kasule.

However, James Mubi the Kira Region Police Spokesperson later said the convoy was holding a procession without permission from the security agents and lacked knowledge of the team they were supporting.

Further, according to the spokesperson, only Felix Bagiire among the detainees had a know-how of the London team- Arsenal after an intense investigation.

“We asked for the name of the Arsenal coach, the number of premier league teams, number of games Arsenal has so far played, number of wins and losses Arsenal has registered this season and the top-four teams but there was no answer.

“They don’t know anything about Arsenal. That’s why our issue wasn’t about them being Arsenal supporters,” Mubi told one local daily in Uganda.

The suspects were however released unconditionally without much trial and continue with their charges for participating in an illegal procession.

After the release, Mr Mubi said that if their (detainees)intention was to hurt or taunt Man Utd fans, they would have taken it to social media.
