Former Harambee Stars captain and Tottenham Hotspur player Victor Wanyama has made his return to the national team after four years.

 

Wanyama was named by head coach Benni McCarthy in the provisional squad set for two international friendlies on June 7 and 10.

 

Kenya will play Chad and Morocco respectively, in preparation for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) scheduled for August.

“Harambee Stars will play against Chad in two friendly matches scheduled for 7th and 10th June, 2025 in Morocco. Here is your provisional squad. Do you spot a familiar return?” the national team announced.

 

His return to the national team marks the first since he stepped away from international duty in 2021. He is set to don the Harambee Stars jersey once again, bringing his vast experience to boost the team’s resurgence.

 

A few days ago, the veteran midfielder hinted at a possible return to the national team before Benni McCarthy named the squad for the friendlies.

“I’ve spoken to him (McCarthy) a few times, and he’s trying to persuade me to come back,” the father of two told BBC.

 

Recently, Victor Wanyama signed a short-term contract with Scottish Championship side Dunfermline Athletic.
