The 12th of February was bad. I mourned Kiptum for only 15 minutes. The reason is, I was in training with the boys, and I got my training mates, four of them at the gate and one of them told me Kiptum had died.” Kipchoge narrated.

Shockingly, Kipchoge recounted that as soon he took a phone to verify what he heard about Kiptum, he bumped on social media comments alleging he was the one who had killed Kiptum.

“I was in shock. I rushed to the room for a shower and came down to get the phone. Immediately when I got the phone, instead of mourning the death of somebody, the whole thing came into my site that I was the one, who killed him,” he explained.

Kipchoge added that he also received threats from people who alleged to set his Eldoret house on fire but later on, it never happened.
