Amad Diallo Explains Why He ‘Deleted’ Social Media Accounts During Ramadan

Manchester United and Ivory Coast right winger Amad Diallo has sparked debate online after he deactivated his Instagram account amid speculations of being unhappy with lack of playing time at the club.

Diallo spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Championship side Sunderland where he produced a stellar performance leading to his recalling from loan by manager Erik ten Hag with a promise of playing time. However, with the season approaching the last quarter, the 21-year-old has only managed to make only 3 appearances for the club this season with his latest move to delete all the Manchester United photos as well as deactivating his Instagram account raising eyebrows among Manchester United.

Following the speculations of Diallo growing impatient for his lack of playing time under Ten Erik ten Hag with him feeling the manager favouring the ‘flopped’ Antony in giving him minutes of play with sitting on the bench. Now Amad Diallo has come out to defend his reason behind him deactivating his social media accounts during this holy month of Ramadhan.

Keeping in mind Diallo is a devoted Muslim where alongside other Muslim Faithfuls worldwide, have begun observing this holy month of Ramadhan which is marked by fasting and praying. Due to the Ramadhan guidelines, Manchester United winger decided to deactivate his Instagram account on Monday, a move that has garnered massive attention from Manchester United supporters worldwide which forced Diallo to clarify the decision.

“I’ve deactivated my social media for a month just to focus on Ramadan. Stop the hatred. There’s nothing wrong with what I did,” “It’s a holy month for me, and social media is a place where there are bad things to see during fasting.” Diallo said.
