“Pia Wewe Tafuta Connection”: Maverick Aoko Defends Jacque Maribe After Landing Plum Government Job
Vocal Kenyan tweep and women’s rights defender Maverick Aoko has come out to defend former Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe from attacks directed at her by a cross-section of netizens following her latest government appointment.
As earlier reported by the Kenyan media, Maribe was appointed as the head of communications at the Public Service Ministry, headed by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria.
The appointment sparked mixed reactions on social media considering she had just been exonerated from Monica Kimani’s murder case.

The exoneration angered thousands of Kenyans who took to social media to blast Moses Kuria and Maribe herself as they accused the duo of favouritism.
Well, while many people condemned the two and the government over the appointment, some people rallied behind Maribe, among them, Maverick Aoko.
Taking to her Twitter page on Monday, March 11, Aoko urged Maribe’s critics to work hard and look for the right connections so that they can enjoy many privileges.
She reiterated that women specifically need to look for networks that will not see them as sex symbols but value them for what they can bring to the table.
Aoko insisted that Kuria was right to appoint Maribe for the position since they have been good friends who have always stood by each other in difficult moments.

“Moses Kuria stood with Maribe from the moment she was arrested When he got sick and his leg almost got amputated, she was there Hata wewe create contacts that are genuine. As a woman, my biggest lesson is, Create contact with those who see beyond your Vagina! Heko Maribe,” Maverick tweeted.
Her sentiments were echoed by a number of her fans and followers who noted that people need to be connected to the right people who can help escalate their statuses.
Others, however, differed with the lady holding that favouritism in government should stop as it ended with leaders such as the late President Moi.
