Sofapaka FC Fines 9 Of Their Players Ksh. 400,000 Each

Kenya Premier League side, Sofapaka FC has imposed a fine of Ksh. 400,000 each to 9 of their players. This revelation comes after the club’s disciplinary committee summoned the nine players in December last year for boycotting training and matches demanding for their unpaid monthly wages.

As earlier reported by Mideyah Digital, the club ordered the said players to appear before the disciplinary committee to present their reasons of not showing up for the training sessions and club matches. The players faced the committee on 12th December 2023 and their fate has been determined.

All the nine players have been slapped with a fine of Ksh. 400,000 each and mandated by the club to perform community services for the rest of the season. The 9 players include Brent Omwena, Daniel Otieno, Emmanuel Otieno, Jacob Osano, Nixon Omondi, Khalid Jumaan, Oliver Maloba, Simon Munala and Stephen Okola.

The club charged the players with 5 counts which were, insubordination, incitement, negligence/sabotage, absenteeism and misconduct. In the letter seen by Mideyah Digital Media sports desk, all the players have been ordered to pay the Ksh. 400,000 fines in the next 7 days as well as required to do the community services assigned by the team manager until the end of the season.

Also, Sofapaka has suspended the players from the rest of the squad with the club saying their fate will be determined at the end of the season.
