Trauma As Teenage Boy Commits Suicide
A teenage boy in Tororo District has committed suicide for unknown reasons.
The deceased identified as Ochola Micheal was a 14-year-old primary five pupil at Amor Primary School located in Pajwenda Town Council. He reportedly committed suicide at around 5AM yesterday.
It is said that the victim told his family that he wanted to use the latrine but unfortunately did not come back, raising the concern of his relatives at home. They started a search only to find him in one of the abandoned buildings, hanging dead using a bed sheet he had on while leaving the house.
According to the deceased’s father, Olweny Ochola, his son had suffered from cerebral malaria over the weekend and had since been receiving medical attention at a nearby clinic. By the time of his death, he was due for another medical visit this morning.
The news is devastating to his family, friends and the entire community because cannot find the reason as to why he committed suicide since he didn’t leave behind a suicide note.
“We are saddened by our son’s death because no one had a misunderstanding with him by the time he passed on but rather we were trying to provide all the treatment necessary for him to be fine,” Olweny said.
The LC3 Chairperson Odel Moses expressed his shock and blamed the parents for failure to counsel their children. He also tasked parents, local leaders to always keep a close eye and watch out for the things that may increase the risk of suicide among their children and guardians.
Police later retrieved the body and opened a suicide case at Mulanda Central Station and investigations go on.
