Manchester City To Expand Etihad To 60,000 Capacity Seater
Manchester City has handed over a planning application worth 300 Euros, including extending Etihad Stadium’s capacity to more than 60,000, a hotel, museum and other facilities.
This is after Etihad was included on the list of ten stadia which would host matches if the UK and Ireland joint bid for organizing Euro 2028.
The plan presented foreshadows additional of around 7,000 seats to the stadium with a new covered fan zone, club shops, museum and a hotel that accommodates 400 beds.
Over several months we have been developing concepts and designs for a best-in-class fan experience and year-round entertainment and leisure destination at the Etihad Stadium and are delighted to have now submitted a planning application to Manchester City Council,” City’s Managing Director of Operations Danny Wilson said.
Danny also stated that all the developments are in the interest of the locals since they would be benefiting directly both economically and socially.
“As with all club developments, ensuring our local community benefit is a key priority and we believe these proposals will deliver long-term economic and social opportunities, building on the regeneration work delivered in East Manchester by City Football Group since2008,” Danny added.
Since an Abu –Dhabi backed takeover fifteen years ago, the neighborhood of Etihad has been transformed.
Etihad Campus comprising of the club’s training ground and headquarter offices underwent first expansion of its South stand in 2012 after opening officially in 2012.
