Policeman Defiles, Impregnates His Teenage Niece

Parents to a 16-year-old in Kamuli, Eastern Uganda are devastated after a police officer defiled their daughter, leaving her pregnant.
Robert Mukunya and Maureen Bogere accuse David Lwanga who works under the intelligence Unit at Kamuli Police and also doubles as the minor’s uncle for the crime that they say happened on 9th January, 2023.
The parents had separated by the time of the incident and the victim was staying with her grandmother where she had gone to sit for Primary Leaving Examinations. According to the victim, her uncle had called her over to his house to help clean up and ended up giving her alcohol.
“When I asked why the drink he gave me smelled like alcohol, he claimed it was a new soda brand and forced me to take it. I woke up the following morning feeling pain in my private parts.” the victim said
David further threatened the victim to keep his secret which he said would destroy his marriage once let out.
The victim’s mother amidst tears revealed that she received the sad news via a phone call from one of his children about her blood brother defiling her daughter.
Mukunya, the father of the victim, revealed that he tried opening up a case against the predator but never got justice and has always been frustrated by officers who are covering up for one of their own.
“The officers feared the fact that he was their superior and tried to hide my file. The RPC promised to arrest him but it has been long and there is no action,” he said, calling upon the lGP Ochola Martin to intervene in the matter.
Busoga North police spokesperson Michael Kassada refuted reports about covering up for one of their officers and revealed that investigations into the matter had commenced. He called upon the parents of the victims to contact him personally to help get justice.
