Frank Lampard Appointed Chelsea Caretaker Manager
Former England International Frank Lampard has made a surprise return as Chelsea manager but this round as an interim Coach until the end of the season following the sacking of Graham Potter.
In a statement, Chelsea Football Club said the move marks a return to the blues for Lampard who enjoyed an illustrious playing career at Stamford Bridge.
“Frank is a Premier League Hall of Fame and a legend at this club. As we continue our thorough and exhaustive process for a permanent head coach. We want to provide the club and our fans with a clear and stable plan for the remainder of the season. We want to give ourselves every chance of success and Frank has all of the characteristics and qualities we need to drive us to the finish line”. said the club
Lampard first assignment will be to bring maximum point when his side faces Wolves on Saturday.
“We are all going to give Frank our full backing as we aim to get the best possible outcome from all our remaining games.”
Frank Lampard has been out of a job since January when he was fired by Everton after less than a year in charge.
The Former Chelsea and England player and attacking midfielder, previously managed the Blues from July 2019 until January 2021, when he was replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League. During his time, he won the Premier League on three occasions and the UEFA Champions League in Munich.
He managed the club for 84 games, including guiding the team to an FA Cup final.
