Widow Imprisoned For Pouring Hot Water On Son

28- year- old widow has been jailed for five years after pouring hot water on her son.
Esnart Namukonda a Zambian widow was on Monday found guilty by Nakonde Court in Zambia by punishing her biological son using hot water after the boy stole money from her purse.
According to one Zambian local radio; Chete FM report, the boy, eight years old stole his mother’s money two weeks back making Namukonda angry and resorting to hot water as the punishment.
However, the punishment left the boy with raw blisters prompting villagers to report the matter to Nakonde Police that arrested her and took her to court.
Nakonde Court Magistrate Alice Walusiku on Monday found Namukonda guilty and sentenced her to jail for five years in an attempt to end her son’s life and exposing him to physical and mental torture.
Following the charges, Namukonda pleaded for clemency by claiming she’s a widow and her husband died in 2020.
She added that her two children depends on her for everything as a single parent and the punishment she resorted to wasn’t meant to injure but act as a mere warning to the boy’s behavior of stealing money.
Esnart Namukonda after her clemency cries, the court magistrate reduced her jail term counting her jail term to start on the day she was arrested a week back.
