Vendors Strike Over Losses Made Following Jose Chameleone’s Cancelled Concert

Businessmen and women in Uganda who had lined up a number of merchandise, especially perishables, are lamenting the heavy losses they faced when singer Jose Chameleone’s ‘Gwanga Mujje’ concert was postponed.

In an organized strike, the sellers cried out to the government to compensate them because they lost a lot of money.

We recall, Jose Chameleone was set to entertain his fans on the 10th February but unfortunately heavy rains hit Kampala, destroying the erected concert stage just a couple of hours to the event. This was a disaster for the vendors who had stocked up on food and drinks.

The loss comes from the fact that the food was wasted and now worried for the money they had paid for stall spaces.

“I’m crying for my 9.7 million that I invested. I had bought ice, over 120 chickens but I got nothing. I’m so sad because the organizer who had collected our money ran away. We appeal to the government to help us.” A disgruntled vendor lamented.

The stage fell on the concert date yet the vendors had paid for their stalls. They had stocked chips, roasted chicken among others. It is sad they postponed the show to the 24th. They were heartbroken because they had invested a lot.

Reports indicate that the promoter behind the much anticipated concert, Biggy Events invested in Ugsh. 500 million book for all the concerts across the country. Speaking before the journalists, the CEO, Mariam has opened up how much the catastrophe has affected them.

“It was so sad and hard to process. Personally I still think it was a dream. The expenses are too heavy and it’s just the beginning. Like the media houses are adding more costs to run the ads to the said date.” The teary Mariam spoke out

Mariam confirmed that Jose Chameleone was currently in bad shape and depressed because such a disaster had never befell him for the past 25 years he has been holding concerts.

“We are giving him space

The concert was postponed to 24th February.
