Kenyans Brew Chang’aa In Gulf Countries, CS Mutua Reveals

CS Dr. Alfred Mutua has disclosed that there are Kenyans brewing and selling Chang’aa in Gulf countries.

In an exclusive talk show  with one of the Kenyan media houses, the Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary revealed some Gulf countries which Chang’aa is illegal.

Qatar being one of the Gulf country where brewing and selling of Chang’aa is illegal, many Kenyans with love for business have found themselves in cells as others deported back.

‘Do you know there are Kenyans brewing Chang’aa in some of these countries?’He posed

“They sell the drink to other Africans in Muslim countries, illegality over another illegality. Kenyans are dying whilst others are going blind” Dr. Mutua said.

On the many death cases and suffering from Kenyans in Gulf, the CS said Kenya’s government is protecting its people though, ‘them’ Kenyans, are the breaking laws in Middle East countries.

He further revealed how some Kenyans are traveling to Gulf just to engage in illegal businesses, a threat to Kenya’s Passport value and bargain.

“About 20-30 out of 100 Kenyans vanish at the airport in Saudi Arabia. They are picked up by other Kenyans to take part in illicit activities.

” They are told by their friends that they are making Ksh. 40,000 or Ksh. 50,000R per month. Here is a side activity I can show you where you will be making KSh. 300,000 easily.

” Within two months, you can build your mother a house. Wewe toka kazini kuja tufanye kazi. With that, they fall out of status and become runaways. The things they are doing here they are doing there. That weakens our passport and bargaining points,” Dr. Mutua said.

The former Machakos County Governor further cautioned Kenyans going in foreign countries and engaging in illegal businesses that, under President Ruto’s government and him as CS, they’ll be dealt with squarely.

“We don’t have mercy on you…you get rounded up and deported, we welcome you here and when you are convicted there, we will let them come and take them to Kamiti because chang’aa is also illegal here” Dr. Mutua cautioned.
