Radio Jambo Journalist Gidi Ogidi Faces Online Backlash After Performing at Jamhuri Day
Gidi Ogidi, a Radio Jambo journalist faced online backlash shortly after his energetic performance at Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.
During the 61st celebrations of Kenya’s independence at Uhuru Gardens, Gidi Ogidi was filmed singing and dancing to his song ‘Maji Maji’ alongside DJ Joe Mfalme, Mejja, and Jua Kali amongst other Kenyan artists.
Shortly after the event, Kenyans called him out as a traitor who supported President Ruto’s regime. In their view, Ogidi was not supposed to perform at the Jamhuri Day Event.

Gidi Ogidi revealed that Francis Gaitho, a social media influencer shared his phone number with social media users for discipline.
“When Michuki was killing young Kikuyus in the name of Mungiki, Francis Gaitho was not there to defend his kinsmen. Now that I have performed for fellow Kenyans he’s calling it ARTROCITIES 🤣” Gidi told off Gaitho.
The journalist in a separate post said he performed at Jamhuri Day to entertain Kenyans. He alleged he didn’t perform in favour of President Ruto’s regime.

Further, he advised Kenyans to be keen in the next elections when voting for the president. In his view, when things go wrong, they should deal with the main cause, not an artist trying to source for a living.
“Next time you vote for a leader and he disappoints you, please, hate him alone, don’t involve me,” Gidi Ogidi advised netizens.
