Moi University Announces Candle Lighting Day In Honour Of Late Dr. Jane Malel

Dr. Jane Malel was a Communication Lecturer in the School of Information Sciences

Moi University in Eldoret mourns the passing on of Dr. Jane Malel, a lecturer affiliated with the School of Information Science.

The university has scheduled a candlelight ceremony on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in her honour as announced in an online letter.

“In loving memory of Dr. Jane Malel, Beloved lecturer, mother, friend. Dear colleagues and students. The school of information science, along with the entire Moi University family, mourns the passing of our esteemed lecturer Dr. Jane Malel. To honour her memory and celebrate her life, we invite you to a candle lighting ceremony on Tuesday 26th, March, 2024 at 5:00pm outside the school of Information science premises. Let us come together in remembrance and offer our collective lights as we reflect on Dr. Malel’s contribution to our school and community.” The letter reads.

Dr. Malel will be buried on Thursday, March 28th, 2024. A fundraising event to support her honourable farewell was set today Monday, March 25th, 2024, at her parents’ residence in Kapseret constituency, Uasin Gishu County.Individuals acquainted with Dr. Malel are expressing their condolences to her family, friends, and the entire Moi University community.

Cherono Koskey has said, “Eternal rest grant unto her ooh Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon her may she rest in peace Amen.”

Dr. Jane Malel breathed her last moments after collapsing while heading to class on March 20,2024. According to one of the Institution’s lecturer Musakali Joseph Juma, Dr. Malel joked of having unhealthy before her unexpected demise.
“It’s with profound shock that we announce the sudden demise of Dr. Jane Malel. She drove herself to work this morning, said she wasn’t breathing very well and joked about being unhealthy. She fainted shortly after when she was heading to class. An ambulance tried to get her to town but she didn’t make it,” Mr. Musakali reported.
Malel was a Communication Lecturer in the School of Information Sciences
