KBL states that the sponsorship deal is not for their financial gain but also to show the world what Kenya is capable of doing in the Olympics.

Kenya Breweries Limited, commonly referred to as KBL manufactures branded beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. Through their brand Tusker, they have inked a multi-million sponsorship deal with National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) to aid the financial support for Kenyan athletes in order to meet logistical requirements as they gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games scheduled to take place between 26 July to 11 August.

The Kenya Breweries Limited managing Director Mark Ocitti speaking during the event held at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani on Wednesday, highlighted the importance of sponsoring the athletes who will be representing the country in global stage. This is the fourth time KBL is sponsoring the Olympics games. Their first support came during the 2012 London Olympics where David Rudisha set world record for the 800m race.

Mark Ocitti expressed his excitement for KBL to partner with National Olympic Committee of Kenya for the fourth time as they prepare for the event adding that the sponsorship deal is not for their financial gain but also to show the world what Kenya is capable of doing in the Olympics.

“I commend the National Olympic Committee of Kenya for their great leadership and promoting the sport through preparing the athletes to go and represent the country at the Olympics. “This sponsorship shows our unwavering support for the athletes as they embark on their journey to the Olympic Games, and I want to assure NOC-K of our commitment and we wish them a successful journey.” Ocitti said.

“Particularly, we just want to appreciate the talent that our country has produced and as we gear up to showcase this talent among the world’s best, we want to ensure that you all excel, ” he concluded.

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya president Paul Tergat speaking during the sponsorship deal  praised KBL endless efforts to support the athletes through their Tusker brand. Tergat noted that the deal will help boost the motivation of the athletes as they edge to the Paris Olympics.

“Things have changed now, the way we walk with our partners is very different, back then, it was very difficult to even get sponsors. “We truly appreciate this partnership, if consistency and reliability was a person, then it would be Tusker and by extension the East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) would be one.” Tergat said.

“We have so many talented athletes who are vying for their tickets to the Olympics and when you get a chance, go out there and shine.” He added.
