Nonini Shares Document Proving MCSK, Other CMOs Squandered KSh 56 Million Meant To Pay Artists
US-based Kenyan rapper Hubert Nakitare alias Nonini has hit the last nail on the Music Copyright Society Of Kenya’s coffin after publicly sharing proof that the body has been squandering money meant to benefit artists.
The artist, through his official Twitter account, shared a copy of a letter from the Kenya Copyrights Board (KECOBO) to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) that somewhat hinted the CMOs misappropriated millions of shillings meant for artists.

According to a letter dated Thursday, February 8, KECOBO acknowledged meeting officials from Kenya’s top 3 Collective Management Organisations namely Kenya Association of Music Producers (KAMP), Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) and Performers Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK) to discuss 2023’s performance report.
The letter, which was addressed to the EACC detailed how the CMOs could not account for KSh 56 Million, monies supposed to have been paid to musicians as royalties for their creative works.
Mideyah Digital understands the letter was aimed at giving EACC the green light to commence investigations into the siphoning of funds from MCSK, KAMP and PRISK.
This publication has learnt through the letter in our possession that KECOBO held a meeting with the three CMOs on Thursday, January 25, following an outcry from Kenyan artists and the general public.
