Lady who was in the company of Marathon world record holder Kelvin Kiptum and his trainer Rwandese coach Gervais Hakizaman has been discharged.
Sharon Chepkirui Kosgei who was a passenger in the vehicle suffered severe injuries and had been taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital(MTRH) for treatment. According to the Hospital CEO Philip Kirwa, Sharon has been released after getting treated following the injuries she sustained from the grisly accident that claimed Kiptum’s life.

News of Kelvin Kiptum’s untimely demise hit Kenyans yesternight Sunday 11th February, 2024. According to police report, the Chicago World Marathon Record holder was driving his Toyota Premio when he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road before landing into a ditch and hitting the big tree.
The marathoner with a promising future in athletics lost his life only days after his record got ratified as Kenyans also looked forward to his competition against Eliud Kipchoge in Paris, France.
Kenyans led by President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga has sent their condolence messages terming Kelvin Kiptum a determined star who remains an icon in athletics.
