How Christian Atsu Was Remembered By His Former Clubs On 1st Anniversary

Christian Atsu died exactly one year ago following a devastating earthquake that hit Turkey on 6th February. The former Black Stars met his sudden death while playing for Turkish side Hatayspor and Atsu had scored the match winner goal for them against Kasimpasa moments before earthquake hit the country.

Atsu’s body was found 12 days later stacked in rubles after the 5.8 magnitude earthquake. Christian Atsu’s body was flown to his native country Ghana for burial. The veteran footballer was accorded a state funeral by the government of Ghana following his contributions throughout his football career.

The former Ghana midfielder played for several big clubs in Europe including Chelsea and Newcastle United before moving to Saudi Pro league’s side Al-Raed where he found his route Turkish side Hatayspor where he lost his life.
Today marks exactly one year since the midfielder passed away and his former clubs took to their social media handles to remember their fallen soldier.
