Photos: Ghanaian Defender Daniel Amartey Strips Naked And Gives Fan Uniform After Match

The Black Stars Defender Daniel Amartey sparked debate among netizens across Africa and more so in his origin country Ghana. The defender stripped off his jersey and went half-naked after Ghana’s last Group stage match against Mozambique.

Since then, his half-naked photos have gone viral on social media as many Ghanaians analyze his intention behind his act.

Daniel Amartey stripped off his Black Stars jersey after Ghana threw away a 2-0 lead to settle in a 2-2 draw with Mozambique in a crucial game that was a determinant in their place in the round of 16 in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Ghanaian defender approached the fans in the stands at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara stadium at the final whistle of the Group B clash, Amartey removed his full jersey where he remained with only boxers and given away his full jersey to the fans.

With many Ghanaians having different opinions concerning the same, it has now been revealed that the gesture in the photos was to empathize with the many angry and frustrated supporters who were unhappy about the team giving away a 2-0 lead costing them an early exit from this year’s AFCON tournament.

Following Cameroon’s win against Gambia has buried Black Stars dreams of securing a spot in the round of 16, with four-time African Cup of Nations champions bow out of the tournament at the Group stage.
