5 Football Players Who Successfully Ventured into Music

Music has been said to have an underlying relationship with football. Despite being the best in a field some players are also the best musicians as well as rappers. In context to this, we look at 5 football players who ventured into the music industry.
1. MEMPHIS DEPAY
The former Manchester United forward decided to try his hand at music in 2017 when he released his first song dubbed ‘LA Vibes’ before releasing his hit rap song ‘No Love’ in December 2018 with his latest music released 5 months ago. Depay who is a duo citizen of Netherlands and Ghana has been successful in his music rap journey. The Atletico Madrid striker has massive numbers across different streaming sites with over 800,000 subscribers on YouTube.

2. RAFAEL LEAO
The 24-year-old Portugal and AC Milan left Winger, and also decided to try his luck in music. Leao debuted his musical journey in 2021 with an EP called ‘Beginning’ which had 6 songs. The Portuguese star released his album dubbed ‘My Life in Every Verse’ in June 2023 which had 14 songs. Leao uses WAY 45 as his stage name and has garnered over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube.

3. CLINT DEMPSEY
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham goal poacher fell in love with rap music at a young age as he grew up listening to some of big rappers in USA. The Houston born star, his rap career took off in 2006 when he partnered for Nike ahead of the World Cup with the video ‘Don’t Tread’ alongside Houston rappers Big Hawk and XO. He went on to adopt the name ‘Deuce’ as his stage name.

4. ASAMOAH GYAN
The former Black Stars of Ghana captain also had passion for rap music, and he tried his luck as he got a collabo with Afrobeat star Castro. The Ghana legend uses the stage name ‘Baby Jet’.

5. DJIBRIL CISSE
The former Liverpool man who played for the club between 2004 and 2006 wasn’t left behind as he decided to try his hand outside his professional career which was football.
