Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again attracted controversy after he was captured on video slapping a mourner at a funeral.

 

Mideyah Digital has learnt the politician flew off the hinges midway through his address at a funeral in Kakamega County on Friday, January 12.

 

Everything was flowing smoothly until he noticed Malaha Ward MCA Peter Walunya standing next to him as he waited to be handed the microphone so he could address mourners.

Controversial Peter Salasya was infuriated by the MCA and asked him to take his seat but in vain.

 

“Tell this person to go sit down. I have told you to sit down, I’m repeating it, go sit down,” he said.

 

His command attracted the attention of mourners who started jeering, creating a mini commotion while at it.

 

It did not take seconds before the Mumias East MP pounced on the MCA with a hot slap that sent him sprawling.

 

He was joined by his bodyguards and they quickly wrestled the local politician away from the podium.

 

The MP’s actions sparked chaos as mourners watched him assault the MCA over a trivial issue.

The moment was caught on camera and went viral online in a move that elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans, online and offline.

 

Salasya Arrested

 

Following the incident, Peter Salasya was arrested and detained at the Shianda Police Station.

 

Mideyah Digital has learnt the politician was charged with two offences including causing bodily harm and creating a public disturbance, which breached section 95(1) of the penal code.

 

He was however released on Saturday, January 13, on a KSh 50,000 cash bail.

 

The legislator will be appearing before the SPM’s court in Mumias on Tuesday, January 14.
