5 Football Players Who Look Older Than They Actually Are
In Sports particularly in football, age is a factor that matters a lot when clubs are signing new players or looking to extend a certain player’s contract. But of course, not everyone ages in the same way. It’s either some they lied about their real age or it’s just gene issues in the family or something.
Take a look at some of these players who are way younger than they look:
1. JOASH ONYANGO
Joash Onyango is a 30-year-old Kenyan footballer who plays as a Centre-Back in Tanzania Premier League side Singinda Fountain FC. He was signed by Tanzania giants Simba SC in August 2020 from Gor Mahia FC for an estimated fee of €100K. Joash Onyango spend 3 seasons with ‘Wekundu Wa Msimbazi’ as commonly known before he was loaned out to Singida FC last year July. Simba SC fans joked at Onyango’s age as they said he looked like a 40-year-old ‘Mzee Wa Mtaa’ Village elder.
2. VINCENT ABOUBAKAR
Vincent Aboubakar is a 31-year-old Cameroonian international who plays as a forward for Turkish side Beşiktaş. Aboubakar has played in different clubs including Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr where he left the club last year January to pave way for Ronaldo.
Aboubakar became a World sensation when he scored the only goal as Cameroon defeated Brazil 1-0 in the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar and he was sent off for removing his shirt. Aboubakar’s facial appearance raised eyebrows among football fans concerning the star’s age as some fans feel he is older than his current age.
3. EDUARDO CAMAVINGA
The 2002-born French international who turned 21 years last year November, joined the LaLiga giants Real Madrid in 2021 aged 19, where he has gone on to win every possible trophy at the club level. The Midfielder has always been on the spotlight about his age where he has been trolled for looking more older than he is.
4. WAYNE ROONEY
Rooney is a former Manchester United captain and all-time club’s top scorer as well as second all-time England national team top scorer. Rooney once played with Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United but the England international retired from professional football in January 2021.
The two turned 38 years old last year but Ronaldo is still playing at the top level. Sometime back in 2023, Rooney was pictured as he was still coaching the MLS side DC United with the picture creating controversies about his age.
5. DANNY INGS
Danny Ings is one of the players on our list who look older than their real age. Ings joined Liverpool in 2015 from Burnley when he was just 22 years but due to his wrinkled forehead and his thick beard, Liverpool fans argued that the forward looked like he was in his early 30s, yet he was only 22 years.
