Woman Poisons 3 Children To Punish Their Father
Police in Kumi district have launched an active investigation into the death by poisoning of three children that died in Okudumo village, Okudumo Parish, Mukongoro subcounty in Kumi district.
The victims identified as Okodos John 9, Olupot Constantine 6 and 4-year-old Adodo Ignatius were believed to have been poisoned by the suspect Adongo Hellen in an act of revenge.
Preliminary reports indicate that Adongo cooked sweet potatoes laced with a poisonous substance and forced the three children to eat.

Eyewitnesses quickly alerted the parish LCII chairperson who in turn reported the matter to the area police.
Upon investigations, it was discovered that Adongo and Omudu Tom, father to the deceased children had a misunderstanding that stemmed from the money the latter stole during Adongo’s reign as a treasurer at their local savings group.

Omudu was arrested in connection to the theft but later set free, something that may have frustrated Adongo driving her to perform the heart wrenching act because she failed to recover her money.
The police spokesperson for East Kyoga Region, John Robert Tukei confirmed the arrest of Adongo together with her husband Ogwang Julius and a murder case under file number SD REF No 07/28/12/2023 and CRB No 806/2023 respectively had been opened against them at Kumi CPS.
According to Tukei, one of the children confessed that the suspect had forced them to consume the meal before dropping dead.

The bodies were conveyed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and according to the pathology report, they detected a poisonous substance in their bodies confirming the cause of death.
