Teenager Kills Friend Over Jacket

Pupil Die By Suicide After Being Detained In School Over Fee Balance
Fear gripped residents of Mpigi district after a teenager lost his cool and murdered his friend in cold blood over his jacket.
The deceased was identified as 19-year-old Jim Katabwa and the accused James Buyinza Ssemanda, both residents of Karigwa- Mpambure village.
The incident happened at around 7 pm and according to eyewitnesses, the two boys had a fight after Katabwa attacked Buyinza at his workplace demanding for his jacket which he had given him as security for the Ugsh. 3000 loan he had borrowed from him.

The deceased is said to have paid back the loan but Buyinza refused to give him back the jacket.
“He sold the jacket he had been given as security. They started fighting and i tried to separate them but he slipped from me. The next thing I saw was Katabwa lying down,” a reveler said.
During the fight, Buyinza who works as a welder picked up an iron bar with a nail and hit Katabwa on the head. He was rushed to hospital but unfortunately died before he got there.

The deceased’s parents described their son as a calm and collected person who had no issues with anyone.
SP Majid Karim, the Katonga Region police spokesperson issued a strong warning to the youths against the use of drugs which he says might have prompted the act.
“He might have been under the influence of drugs and other substances that may have led him into murder,” He said.

Buyinza was charged with murder and is currently held at Mpigi police station.
