Music lovers across the world have been thrown into mourning following the sad and sudden demise of South African songstress Bulelwa Mkutukana,  Popularly known to many as Zahara.

 

Mideyah Digital understands Zahara died at the age of 36 on the night of Monday, December 11.

 

According to Sunday World, a source intimate to Zahara’s family confirmed the award-winning musician passed on at a private hospital in Johannesburg.

The source went on to disclose that Zahara died peacefully with her fiancé, Mpho Xaba by her bedside.

 

 

“The family will release a statement soon. She was with Mpho when she passed away,” the source disclosed to the media.

 

 

Zahara’s demise comes barely a month after she was admitted to hospital following an illness.

 

 

At that time, South African media reported that the musician has been moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to the seriousness of her ailment.

 

The same was confirmed by her manager, Oyama Dyobisa and her family through a public statement released on November 27.

Through the statement, Zahara’s manager and family pleaded with the public to accord her some privacy and pray for her quick recovery.

 

Zahara’s death shook the world with countless public figures, fans and music lovers remembering her as one of the greatest songstresses of her time.

 

The sultry musician became a worldwide sensation after the release of her first studio album Loliwe, which went double platinum.
She did even better with her second album dubbed Phendula, which topped the charts for two consecutive years.
