Relatives and friends are mourning the tragic death of an engineer who perished in an accident a few hours after his traditional introduction ceremony.
The tragic accident happened on Sunday afternoon when the deceased’s car, Subaru Forester number UBN 375Q collided with a taxi UBP314A as confirmed by Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson.
Three people including 31-year-old bridegroom Eng. Kenneth Twesigye, an employee under National Water and Sewage Corporation (NWSC) from Rwikiniro, Ruhama in Ntungamo district, his best man Eng. Moses Manirakiza of Burungu village, Kisoro district and the the driver of the taxi Herbert Mujurizi, the driver of the Taxi and resident of Rukungiri died on spot after the head on collision.

Twesigye’s traditional introduction ceremony (kuhingira) at his fiance Patience Prize’s home at Kyatoko, Rukungiri district happened on Saturday and the groomsmen spent the night in Mbarara. They team had to return the following day to pick the bride when the accident happened along Ntungamo-Mbarara highway.
According to police reports, the subaru driven by Munirakiza was driving from Mbarara during the heavy rains and as he approached Kahunga, he opted to drive on the opposite lane because the road was flooded on his side. This is when he collided with the taxi.

13 taxi occupants were rushed to Itojo hospital with serious injuries while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary for postmortem.
