A reverend left revelers of Mityana district in awe  after he denied his wife the right to bury their dead child at his ancestral home.

It is said Richard Sembajjo, a reverend in the Anglican Church of Uganda together with his wife Norah Namujju sired two children; a 2-year-old girl and an 8-month-old baby. Since they weren’t legally married, the couple stayed in different homes and the Reverend was obliged to always send money to take care of his children.

The residents, however, have accused the man of God for abandoning his responsibilities as a father to the point that he refused to send money to take his baby to hospital when she was critically ill.

“The child got sick and the mother took her to the pastors for prayers because she had no money for hospital,” a neighbor said.

When the situation got worse, neighbors and well wishers collected funds to help Namujju take the baby to hospital but she unfortunately died on arrival.

They had to bring back the deceased to her father’s home to prepare for burial but, the Reverend locked them out of his house, saying he was not the father of the children.

“We can’t believe a whole reverend could do such an abominable act. I wonder what he would preach to his followers with such behavior,” a neighbor stated.
