“It was revealed that the Mamba family, represented by Zziwa, had encountered internal strife,” the police report stated.
Further allegations revealed that a portion of about 2 acres of that family land had been sold to a business woman, only known as Namagembe. This was done without the knowledge of other clan members, causing chaos and disagreements between the family.
It is said that as the pressure mounted on the family from the buyer, Zziwa decided to relocate the deceased to a new location in Buwama, something that was contested by a section of family members.
Police quickly arrived at the scene and were able to arrest 8 individuals including Mutebi Ronald, Zziwa, Godfrey Hijambo, Nakiyaga Halimah, Namubiru Topista, Zawedde, Ssekide Ronald and Mutebi Abedi.
The suspects are being detained at Kajjansi Police station as investigations commence. These will be charged with ‘disturbing the peace of the dead’.
According to the police report, the act of relocating the dead in the middle of the night has left the community in shock, with unresolved tensions lingering amidst the disruption of the final resting place of their loved ones.
