Court Sets Pastor Ezekiel Odero Free

Pastor Ezekiel Odero of New Life Prayer Centre and Church is now a free man after court closed his investigation file in the mystical Shakahola Massacre.
Through his lawyer Cliff Ombeta on Monday, the preacher requested to have the case closed citing its prolonged period without formal charges.

The DPP who are the prosecutors in the case, while responding to the request, ordered that the case be closed pending completion of investigations.
On Tuesday, Shanzu Senior Principal Magistrate Joe Omido set Pastor Ezekiel free and ordered his Ksh. 1.5M cash bail earlier paid be returned.

According to the court, the prosecutors failed to prefer direct charges against the embattled preacher who became the talk of town after accusations of having a hand in Shakahola deaths thus forcing the Magistrate to discharge Odero.
Pastor Ezekiel had been accused of aiding suicide, abduction, radicalisation, genocide, crimes against humanity, child cruelty, fraud and money laundering.
It should be remembered that his freedom comes days after he appeared before the senate and welcomed Senators for more investigations at his Mavueni Church residence.
