Police Boss Arrested Over Allegedly Defiling One Year Old Baby
Man Arrested For Luring Women On Facebook, Robbing Them At Knife Point
Police in the West Nile Region, Uganda has arrested the head of the Police Professional Standard Unit for allegedly defiling a minor.
It is stated that the officer in question Thomas Otim, 49, defiled the one year and nine months old baby belonging to the suspect’s colleague who stays at the barracks in Arua City on Monday, 9th October, 2023.
According to the West Nile region police spokesperson Angucia Josephine, Otim called the victim to his room in the barracks where he ended up sexually assaulting her. He was apprehended after the toddler was heard crying a few minutes later.
Angucia further confirmed that Otim has since been detained at Arua Central Police Station and a case under file number CRB 9002023 was opened against him with charges of aggravated defilement.
The mother of the victim narrated that on the day of the incident, Otim arrived home from the Independence Day celebrations in the afternoon and called the victim to his house. Within the shortest time, the toddler was heard screaming from inside the house and Otim immediately came out with her, rushing to the canteen to buy her soda to soothe her.
The baby is said to have continued crying and upon inspection by the mother, she allegedly discovered the baby’s private parts swollen and torn. She was rushed to Arua Regional Referral Hospital and the report from the medics confirmed the mother’s fears. The baby was then started on Post Exposure Prophylaxis.
“The pain is too much to bear more so seeing the culprit everyday moving around and nothing being done,” the distraught mother cried out as she asked for the suspect to be brought to justice.
