Manchester United Seal Champions League Slot In Style
Manchester United sealed Champions League football next season after their 4-1 win over Chelsea yesterday.
Casemiro gave Manchester United the lead with a header, and the goal was given after VAR review. Anthony Martial doubled their advantage by flicking in a cross from Jadon Sancho at close range after Chelsea had most of the chances in the first half, but they were wasteful.
In the second half, Wesley Fofana fouled Bruno Fernandes, who added United’s third goal from the penalty spot to end any hope of a comeback. Marcus Rashford added a fourth goal as a result of yet another Fofana mistake.
Joao Felix came off the bench to score for the Blues, who suffered their 16th defeat overall and eighth under Frank Lampard in 10 games.
After the game, Frank Lampard said his team needed to be better.
“Disappointed with it. We have to be better than that. It’s the end of a long season. There are some technical details inside; you have to work daily to do the things you say are standard; they are a fact. Maybe with United, you see, there’s some experience at both ends of the pitch that made the game as it was. It’s a reality for the players.” He said.
Manchester United will be sweating over the fitness of Antony, who was forced off due to injured.
