Home » Newcastle Qualify For The Champions League Next Season

Newcastle United sealed their spot in the Champions League for next season after they drew 0-0 with a struggling Leicester City side.

From the start of the game, Newcastle dominated, keeping the Foxes pinned deep in their own half.

The Magpies managed an astounding 23 shots throughout the course of the game, forcing Leicester goalkeeper Daniel Iversen to make four saves, while the visitors were held without a shot until the 93rd minute.

Among their combined 12 shots, Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson, and Miguel Almiron all had chances to score, while Bruno Guimaraes came agonizingly close with a header inside the six-yard box.

Only one shot was made by Leicester, and it came in the 92nd minute when Nick Pope made a brilliant save from Timothy Castagne’s volley to prevent them from securing a crucial smash-and-grab victory and deliver the outcome of their survival to the opposition.

The draw put pressure on Leicester City, who are on the edge of Premier League relegation with 31 points from 37 games played.
