Fierce Manchester City Knockout Real Madrid
Manchester City defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in the second leg to advance to the finals of the Champions League in Istanbul.
All was to be played at the Etihad Stadium after the 1-1 draw at Madrid. City began the game on a high note as Erling Haaland’s header was brilliantly saved off the line by Thibaut Courtois early on. David Alaba then cleared another one off the line as the city kept on piling pressure.
The first goal eventually came when Kevin De Bruyne slid the ball into Bernardo Silva’s path, and the midfielder opened the scoring.
Toni Kroos then hit the crossbar minutes later after a corner kick. Manchester City doubled their lead when Silva got his second of the night after he headed a rebound into the empty net, giving them a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Eder Militao scored an own goal from a Kevin De Bruyne free kick to put the game to bed. Real Madrid offered very little on a disappointing night. Substitute Phil Foden combined perfectly with Julian Alvarez, and the Argentine slid the ball past Courtois to give them a 4-0 lead.
Manchester City will face Inter Milan in the finals of the Champions League in Istanbul.
