Kabarak University, one of Kenya’s celebrated varsity in Kenya has found itself in shock after its verified Facebook page hacked.

 

 

This come hours after Kenya’s government issuing directions on varsity funding where the sitting president William Ruto on his education statement said there’s a move for privatisation of Public varsities in the country.

 

 

Education CS Machogu on Thursday therein told the press that private varsities should continue with the plan of own funding as he urges their administration not to hike fees but use the available means to cater for its internal needs.

In a high economic environment, governmental funding of universities had lagged in economic growth making public varsities opt for hiking fees to source money in running their activities.

 

 

This as an application saw The University of Nairobi (UoN) hike its accomodation fee to KESH 10,000 as other campuses like Egerton raising normal undergraduate fee to more than KESH 50,000 per year.

 

 

As Ruto government try to develop Kenya technologically, tricky social media users continue to impersonate institutions’ social media accounts, Kabarak being the latest.

On its verified Facebook page, an unidentified person has updated the display picture to one of a woman as (he/he) posts unrelated content as far as education is concerned.

 

 

As the person continue to post educational unfriendly content, the institution’s response to the impersonation update has not yet been addressed leaving elites in shock.

Recently, youngster musician Trio Mio took to his Twitter page claiming his Instagram page had been hacked and the hacker was soliciting money from his fans. This however was worked on making him recover his verified Instagram page.

 

 

On Twitter, upon Elon Musk’s introduction of subscription fee to verified Twitter pages; Citizen Tv’s Twitter page fallen a victim of impersonation where impersonators came up with fake Twitter pages purporting to be Citizen Tv.

 

 

Now, Kabarak joins the many private and public institutions having fallen victims of hacking.
