Napoli Wins Scudetto After 33 Years Wait
Napoli won the Italian scudetto after 33 years of waiting after drawing 1-1 away to Udinese.
Udinese took a surprise lead through Sandi Lovric, and Napoli had to do it the hard way, knowing they needed just a point to seal the title.
Their star man of the season, Victor Osimhen, scored the equalizer after 52 minutes to send Napoli fans all over the world into celebrations. It is their first title after 33 years, with their last title coming during Diego Maradona’s days in 1987 and 1990.
At the final whistle, the away supporters stormed the field as players, coaches, and supporters broke into tears, and the Napoli players had to be escorted out of the field by police officers.
Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti, speaking after the game, said Napoli fans deserve the happiness.
“Seeing Neapolitans happy is enough to give you a sense of the joy they are feeling.”
