Ukraine Warns Its Citizens In Nairobi
The government of Ukraine through its Nairobi embassy has issued an early warning to its citizens ahead of the escalated Azimio la Umoja maandamano on 2nd May, 2023.
On a statement issued on May 1st, the embassy highlighted some unsafe Nairobi city areas its citizens should take caution and distance themselves from.
Among the mentioned city places include; Kibera, Mukuru kwa Reuben, Huruma, Kangemi, Ngong and Juja Road amongst many.
“Due to possibility of escalating situation and threat of clashes between demonstrators and police, the embassy advises people to refrain from visiting the mentioned areas until the situation stabilizes” reads part of the statement.
Ahead of Labour Day, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga insisted on returning to the street and demonstrate over the high cost of living and current regime leadership.
” Unless Mr Ruto wants to suspend the Constitution and rule by decree, we will exercise our right to assemble, demonstrate, picket and present petitions on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, as earlier announced, dark threats notwithstanding,” Raila’s Sunday, April 30 statement read.
On the other hand, President Ruto blasted back at Raila by promising to install an untouchable security around Nairobi central city areas to deal with however will interrupt with the peace of the hustling Kenyans.
As Azimio la Umoja return to the street, the government has sent law enforcers to different city places in preparation to restoring Kenya’s sanity amid demonstrations.
