Police have arrested Mackenzie’s wife as Kilifi cult probe continues.
Rhoda Mumbua Maweu has reportedly been hiding in Mtwapa together with her aunt before the authorities got her.
Mumbua believed to be the human Resource manager of Mackenzie’s administration, was reached to as police continued with their investigation which involved reviewing Mackenzie’s phone records and interviewing members connected to the church.
It was during the review that his contact came up as a key individual working with his husband.
According to police, Mumbua played a major role in recruiting members into the cult and controlling the church finances.
Her arrest will aid investigation against Pastor Mackenzie accused of manipulating people through extreme religious teachings in pursuit of salvation, leading to the deaths of numerous ‘faithfuls’.
Mumbua is Mackenzie’s third wife. His first and second wife died and he immediately married her after death of the second wife.
