Diogo Jota Reveals He Apologised To Skipp
Diogo Jota has revealed he apologized to Oliver Skipp for his tackle in the 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspurs.
Jota evaded punishment after his high boot made contact with Skipp’s head, forcing the midfielder to exit the game with a serious gash. Spurs supporters were furious that he was not sent off. In an eventful game at Anfield, Liverpool led 3-0 after 15 minutes through Curtis Jones,Luis Diaz, and Mohammed Salah.
Tottenham scored through Harry Kane, Son, and Richarlison, who equalized in extra time. However, substitute Diogo Jota scored the winner in the fifth minute of extra time, much to the annoyance of many Spurs fans.
Speaking after the game, Diogo Jota revealed he had apologized to Skipp over the tackle.
“It was not good; obviously, it’s not my intention to cause any harm to him,” Jota told reporters.
“But unfortunately, it happened.” I asked him, “Sorry, that’s all I could do after that bad tackle, but I also think it’s not a red because I touched the ball and there was no intention to cause him any harm.” He said.
But Spurs caretaker manager Ryan Mason said it was a clear red card: “I would like an explanation and a reason why it wasn’t [a red card].
“It’s one of the clearest red cards I’ve seen; it’s difficult to take.” He said.
