Man Overwhelmed By Wife’s Beatings Run To Authorities
An elderly man in Kibaale District has sought for refuge and help from the authorities of Kayanja Sub County over the constant beatings from his wife.
The victim is 40-year-old Wadimbo Emmanuel, a resident of Katwetwe village who accuses his wife Mwesige Juliet of making his life a living hell with physical attacks and verbal humiliation.
According to Emmanuel, his wife leaves home on a daily basis to the trading center and when she returns very late in the night, she demands for food. When he tries questioning her about her whereabouts, she instead becomes violent and ends up beating him. He recounts one incident that happened over the weekend when Mwesige poured a burning mixture of pepper and water in his eyes.
Emanuel reveals that the situation became unbearable. This forced him to run to the village LC chairman, Byamukama John who advised him to escalate the matter to the sub-county level for help.
One of the couple’s neighbours, Kusiima Proscovia revealed that Mwesige failed to change her violent nature despite counsel from different members of the community. Once confronted, the suspect claims that her husband is being misled by people who want to drive her away from her marital home.
