Defending champions  The Golden State Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings 120-100 in Game 7 to qualify for the second round of the NBA playoffs.

In a win or go home game, Stephen Curry broke the record for the most points scored in a game 7, a record held by Kevin Durant since 2021, when he scored 48 against the Bucks. Stephen Curry scored 50 points on the night and shot 20-38 from the field while also hitting seven three-pointers.

Kevon Looney added another 21 rebounds and 11 points, Andrew Wiggins added another 17 points, and Klay Thompson added 16 points, all of which contributed to the victory in Game 7.

For the Sacramento Kings, Deandre Fox scored just 16 points, while Sabonis scored 22 points and 8 rebounds in the loss. Malik Monk scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Speaking after the game, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr praised Curry’s performance.

“You just have to remind yourself every once in a while, big picture, that this is one of the greatest players in the history of the game,’ he said following the series-clinching victory. That’s how I felt back in my playing days with Michael Jordan. For Steph to be the first player ever to get 50 in a Game 7, he’s sublime,” he said.
