Newcastle Humiliates Tottenham Hotspurs
Tottenham Hotspur suffered one of the most embarrassing defeats in Premier League history after being beaten 6-1 by Newcastle United on Sunday evening.
Following goals from Joelinton and a Jacob Murphy double in quick succession, Newcastle United took a 3-0 lead in the first ten minutes, ensuring that Spurs would have a humiliating afternoon.
Before the break, Alexander Isak added a pair of goals to make the score 5-0 at the half.
After the break, Tottenham responded to the deficit through Harry Kane before Callum Wilson scored Newcastle’s sixth goal, but Hugo Lloris had already been replaced by Ben Foster at the interval this time.
Speaking after the game, Spurs captain Hugo Lloris said they needed to apologize to the fans.
“It’s very embarrassing. We should apologize to the fans. We didn’t show a good face, and we could not match the performance of the Newcastle players. We were late in all aspects of the game, and we completely missed the first part of the game. The second half is a different story, but it’s really painful.”He concluded.
