Former Deputy President Gigathi Gachagua (Riggy G) revealed that he used to be a deejay while on campus in the 1980s.
Speaking to Oga Obinna, the former DP shared his little-known career that earned him a good amount of money as a youth at the University of Nairobi.
Riggy G said he bought a sound system at Ksh 25,000 which in current Kenya, the money may be equivalent to 20 million shillings.

Additionally, he recounted that he used to charge around Ksh 1,500 for a single event and people enjoyed the serene mixes from his sound system.
“I bought a disco system back then for around Ksh25,000, which was a substantial amount of money at the time. Today, that could be equivalent to Ksh20 million. I used to charge around Ksh1,500 to deejay for an event for one night,” Riggy G revealed.
He explained that after a short while, he stopped giving his system to other people to do work for him and started deejaying himself. According to him, Chagua Disco was his moniker.

“My entire DNA revolves around getting things right the first time. It was a lot of money, and the equipment was mine, so I thought to myself, why should I stress about employing a deejay? My DJ name was Chagua Disco, taken from the name Gachagua,” He added.
He also revealed that he not only engaged in Deejay as a business, but it was for fun since he cherished Old School Music from Bob Marley among many legendary singers at the time.
While still in the entertainment industry, he later formed a breakdance group which was active for a short stint after people copied their dancing styles.
