Man Shot By Police As He Jumped Over A Wall Fence To See Girlfriend

Police in Wakiso District are investigating circumstances under which a man was shot and wounded as he tried to jump over a fence to see his lover.

26-year-old Biiro Micheal, a boda boda cyclist in Bukere Village, Wakiso was shot by police who received a call from one of the residents in the area about a criminal trespass at her home.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found a male suspect trying to climb up a wall fence belonging to Kaweesi Rosette, a staff at Mukono General Hospital. The officers fired one shot, ordering the suspect to stop but he instead tried to run away. This prompted the officers to shoot and injure him in the leg.

Uganda Police Force spokesperson Enanga Fred confirmed the case that happened on Sunday 16th April at around 3:00 AM as Biiro tried to scale a wall fence where his girlfriend identified as Namata Margaret, 26, resided.

“When the two occupants of the house came out to establish what had happened they found that that stranger was a boyfriend to one of the girls inside the home,” Enanga added.
