Witchdoctor Receives 40 Years In Jail For Sacrificing Best Friend
He turned the station into his home/one accused him
A traditional doctor in Rukungiri District has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering his friend and offering him as a human sacrifice.
According to court records, the accused Mugisha Suleiman, 44, invited his friend Mutabazi to urgently go to his home in Rweshama on 20th April, 2022. Mutabazi, a butcher, was reported missing until his mutilated body was discovered wrapped in a sack and thrown near Lake Edward, in Rweshama fishing village.
Confessing before the court, Mugisha revealed that he murdered his close friend as a directive from his small gods that had tasked him to offer body parts of either his child or close friend.
Mugisha was convicted after his own guilty plea in a court session presided over by Justice Kyemutei Tom and High Court in Rukungiri District.
Before his sentence, Mutabazi asked for a lighter punishment citing that his family members would be home alone since his wife Kesande Shallon and 13-year-old son were remanded at Kabale Prison over the same case.
Being a first time offender and not wasting the court’s time, Mutabazi was given 40 years instead of the maximum death sentence for the capital offence as a lesson to those intending to commit the same crime.
