Believers Close Down Church Accusing Reverend Of Stealing Church Tithes

Christians in Kifamba Church Of Uganda in Rakai District have closed down their church after they pinned their church reverend for sabotaging church developments for his own selfish interests.

The Christians who sealed off the church premises accused Canon. Elisha Luzzi Kirumira, for stealing church tithes, blocking any upcoming developments and chasing away their preferred preacher that they had selected to take over.

“The church does not have a treasurer, advisor or a secretary. They all rotate around the same person,” a disgruntled believer revealed.

Another believer who has been attending church services regularly pinned Canon. Kirumira for guilt-tripping the church into giving huge sums of money as offertory.

“He told us we were giving very little money as church offerings. But If a Christian cares enough to give what they can afford then it is still appreciated. You cannot force people to give what they cannot afford.” She said.

The church had been given to a preacher to conduct the mass services under Canon. Kirumira but he allegedly spread false rumors on his name until he stopped coming to church.

“He called him a snake. How can a snake stand on a church pulpit and lead a service at church?” She questioned.

The reverend allegedly sent over a new preacher to take over something that spited the believers forcing them to close down the doors of the church. They demanded for the reverend to be summoned and explain to the congregation as to why he was always sabotaging church developments and avoiding his responsibilities as a church leader.

“When you lose and let him know, he will ask for a huge sum of money to help you pray for the dead body,” A member of the church cried out.

The members of the church pleaded with the archbishop Kazimba Steven Mugalu to help intervene and put an end to the extortion in their church.

“He is not an advocate of peace. He does not want to sit and have discussions with members of the church instead, he insults everyone. So we ask the Archbishop to send us a new leader or else we shall not open the church.” Another church member said.

In a phone interview, Canon Kirumira denied the allegations and accused the church members behind the act of not being true Christians. He revealed that he dismissed their preferred preacher because he was disrespectful to him

“This is not the first place I have worked at. The good thing is that everyone that is fighting against me, no one is ordained. That preacher preferred working with the people rather than respecting his boss.” He said.
